The success of online dating websites is no secret. In fact, changes are you’ve tried one or more yourself. The amount generated by the industry was over half a billion a few years and climbing every year. But more importantly online dating websites are bringing people together. Whatever stigma people may have attached to the industry is dead and buried. People might remember the traditional “personals” or even the phone based versions or chat lines. And in this age of online dating its amazing to think that those methods worked at all. No photos! And the personals traditionally gave you only so many words to describe both yourself AND who you wanted to meet. Again, let me say it again; no photos! Amazing.

Online dating websites fill a very real and pressing need; people want to get together. Everybody is a potential user. Single people, divorced people, widows, widowers, and of course married people. It’s not usually promoted on online dating websites, but for married people it might possibly be the number one way to meet somebody and have an affair. It’s good for them for the same reasons it’s good for everybody else; cheap, private, convenient, and a limitless pool of people. I mean when you look at those factors how can you NOT get involved.

In fact it’s sensible reasons like that that have convinced so many women to get off the fence. For men it’s always been a no-brainer. Men chase women using every possible means available; case closed. But many women (and yes, some men too) have felt online dating only catered to the desperate or the nerdy. But now those women see online dating websites as a logical strategy to fit their schedule. Not to mention the benefits of keeping men at arm’s length and having a better opportunity to screen for the criteria they seek.
